There is a tradition at the Condon School. The fifth grade, previous the oldest kids in the school until this year, performed a spring musical the week before April vacation. The plays rotate so the kids know what their show will be. For Aidan’s class it was the Wizard of Oz.  The kids practiced during lunch for the weeks leading up to the show and performed 4 times including an evening performance for families.
Brendan of course was all over this. Aidan was not interested in participating in any way that involved him being on stage (much to Brendan’s displeasure!!). It became a point of contention and we had an “agree to disagree” policy at many meals.
Until the week of the show when Aidan became involved- by working the spotlight. A job he took very seriously. There were certain colors for certain songs and he knew all his cues. Brendan was quite proud of Aidan’s involvement.
But there was something else about this performance. So many kids Aidan has become friends with over the past 5 years were in the show- and his best friend who is not in the school anymore came too. Â They seem so old. Â When did that happen? This time next year many of them will be getting ready to move on to a new and bigger school. I, for one, hope together. They are a great group of kids and he is so luck to have such great friends!
