Our Anniversary (continued)

To celebrate our 10th anniversary we traveled back to Aruba where we went on our honeymoon.  With no kids.  It was a short trip, almost made shorter by a snow storm.  But it was a great couple of days.  There was another reason we went.  We had to “pay it forward.”  Of course there is a story…  Here is the letter we gave to a lovely couple we met there.

“We were married on January 3, 2004 and came to Aruba for our honeymoon.  This restaurant was recommended to us by anyone we told we would be here.  On our second to last night we came and had a wonderful dinner.
Towards the end of our dinner our waiter appeared with two glasses of champagne.  He told us a couple at a neighboring table sent them.  We looked over to thank them and they came to our table as the headed out.
They told us ten years earlier they were at the same restaurant on their honeymoon.  A couple sent them champagne and made them promise to come back in ten years – with no kids- to celebrate their anniversary and pay it forward to another newly married couple.
Then they asked us to do the same.  They left without us knowing their names.
So here we are, ten years later, celebrating our anniversary back in Aruba, paying it forward.  We ask you do the same in ten years.  Come back to Aruba and to this restaurant- with no kids- and celebrate your anniversary.  Find a newly married couple and share this story.
May you have a lifetime of love, happiness and health.  Congratulations on your marriage.”IMG_5749

Our Anniversary

Ten years.  Hard to believe it but 10 years.  Chris and I were married January 3, 2004.  Time certainly flies when you are having fun!

The actual day of our anniversary was one of the best days of our Christmas vacation break.  Not everyone was feeling great, so it was a low key day.  It also happened to be a blizzard.  So in we stayed, warm and cozy.  We spent time watching movies, cuddling and enjoy our boys.  It was the best day.

Our special dinner was take out pizza- perfect.

We are truly blessed.  We have wonderful boys who are smart, fun, funny and kind.  It was exactly the perfect way to celebrate our special day.  I cannot wait to see what the next ten years brings!

New Year’s Eve

2013 had its highs and lows- the Marathon Bombing was such a devastating event but the swell of pride in the city certainly helped to move us forward.  Boston Strong was the rallying cry of the Red Sox and it was so befitting that they became World Series Champions and during the parade placed the Boston Strong jersey on the finish line.  It’s hard to not watch clips of this year without feeling moved.

So where better to be to end 2013 than Fenway Park?  Frozen Fenway- sledding, ice skating, seeing the trophies and warming up with hot chocolate and a bit of dancing too!  What a fun time and a great way to end the year.

2013 was a great year for our family and we have a lot to look forward to in 2014!  I can’t believe how quickly time flies- the boys are 8 and 6 already.  But they are so much fun to share good times with.  Bring on 2014!!
