So like every other night at dinner Aidan announces he needs to go to the bathroom.

Aidan: Mom why didn’t you give me underwear today?
Me: What do you mean? You get your own underwear and socks out of the draw everyday.
Aidan: Oh, well I didn’t wear underwear today. Because you didn’t give me any.
Me: What?!

I go and check, sure enough- no underwear. So I can upstairs (thankfully it was not a school day but a Nana and Papa day).

Me: So were there any issues with Aidan and the bathroom today?
Nana: No, why is everything ok?
Me: I just realized Aidan never put underwear on this morning.
Nana: Yeah I noticed that and asked him why he didn’t have underwear on and he said Mommy said it is a hot day so I didn’t need to wear them. He told Papa the same thing.

Lots of laughing as we realize we are being played by the 4 year old.

Me: Aidan did you tell Nana and Papa I said you didn’t have to wear underwear becuase it was hot out?
Aidan: Yes
Me: Did I say that?
Aidan: No
Me: Do you realize if you tell stories people are not going to believe you when you tell them things?
Aidan: But Nana and Papa both believed me.
