Summer Fun!

In between the cruise to Bermuda, the trip to Seattle and summer camp, we also had time for summer fun locally.

The Science Behind Pixar opened at the Museum of Science. It was really cool! We loved learning more about what goes into making some of our favorite movies.

One place we recently discovered was Jordan’s Furniture’s Beantown. The kids love the ropes course! And there is a zip line!

York Beach is on our summer to do list every year. It’s even better when we go with friends!

That time we decided five minutes before the concert to go see Idina Menzel….

What Brendan did on his summer vacation

Brendan’s summer vacation was dramatic.  Shocking.

The plan was for Brendan to attend two sessions of Boston Children’s Theatre’s summer camp. The shows were Annie and Magic Tree House.

Sometimes other things happen. Bren was cast in a short movie called 1954. He said It was fun to do something different and liked being on a movie set (and location!).

The other surprise was that Bren was asked to audition and was cast in the Studio 4 performance of Assassins.  Not a kid show. But some old friends from Pippin were in the show and it was a chance to meet new friends! Some longs days but many laughs. Brendan loves the stage and this was a great show!!IMG_3082

What Aidan did on his summer vacation

Aidan told us well in advance of the summer that he wanted to spend more time at the Museum of Science camp and less time outdoors. We looked into it and also found another camp- at MIT. The result…a summer of technology and all kinds of new things he loved exploring.IMG_9559

At the Museum of Science Aidan learned how to create an iPhone app.  The app was a Simons Says game. The second week was 3D Oculus Rift Virtual Reality Game Design.  This he needed to explain to me!

The second camp was at MIT. The company running the camp was called iD Tech. Aidan loved being on the same campus as Chris- taking the shuttle and carrying his backpack like Chris. It was an early jump start on his plan to go to MIT.  His classes there were 3D Oculus Rift Virtual Reality Game Design and Role-Playing Game Design with RPG Maker. Again, more understanding was needed to know what he was interested in! He really liked meeting other kids with similar interests and also that you can take work home and keep working on his projects.
