Summer at the Yacht Club

It so weird seeing Aidan at the Sailing Program, doing the same things Chris and I did as kids and then Chris oversaw as an instructor.  He is having a good time.  There have been many tipped boats, but he is comfortable by himself. I think he likes the math in it all- the angle of the sail, the direction of the wind- its what he is interested in learning.  I think he could do with out some of the kids who have no interest in sailing and only in causing trouble- but those kids existed when we were there.

One night recently he participated in the Wednesday night races.  He did great!  It did end with him tipping though- he says his boat got swamped.  There was also a dance- it had an 80’s theme.  Oh how I remember those.

He’s got a nice tan now and he is looking forward to the annual tradition that ends the summer- the shaving cream fight!

Me and Chris one summer at sailing- I think he was an instructor (maybe 1996/1997) and us there to watch Aidan race this summer.

Family Reunion!

Chris has four cousins who have children- two families live out of state (we visited North Carolina last summer to see one family).  But this summer everyone was in the same place for a weekend and we took advantage!  All seven children from the boys’ generation were together!  Aidan is the oldest, the youngest is almost a year old.  It was fun to have them all together and see how similar they all are!

Summer in the City

Who needs to go anywhere when we live in such a beautiful place?

One of the best afternoons with the kids was a recent trip we took to the Charles River.  We took the T (always and adventure and something all three boys enjoy more than I do).  We brought lunches and had a picnic looking out over a beautiful summer day.  We watched kayakers and boats go by- and promised to try kayaking as a family soon.  Then we went to the park and played.  And even though Aidan got banged up on the climbing structure, it was a fun day.

There has also been time to enjoy swimming at the yacht club, and more recently an adventure tubing.  The boys loved it (Bren was a little nervous).  A fun way to end a summer day in a place we love and call home.

You can see our house and Nana and Papa watching (and the boys waving!)
