School vacation week was a pretty traumatic week. There are two version to this week. First I will share the kids’ version. Then I will share my version (which I am still working to wrap my head around).

According to the kids their highlights were everything! The week started with hanging our with Livi and Angie. The got to spend time with Grandpa at the yacht club. They got to participate in a special BOKS session Jennie was running at Foxboro. They helped with a service project for Boston Public School’s Welcome Center. They had a play-date with their friends. They spent a day in pjs watching movies and TV. They had dinner with friends. They ended it with a a party for Angie.

Sounds like fun. It was fun. But it wasn’t all that happened.

Swim Team

Opening Night for the Lion King for Brendan was also Night One of Championships for Aidan’s Swim Team. This is his second year as a member of the Lobsters and he loves it. He is a great sport and participates in any race he is needed for.

The first night of championships was pretty chaotic and disorganized (luckily Bren and I missed it!). There was even a fire alarm pulled! But the second week was much smoother. Aidan did great! He is looking forward to celebrating a great season soon!

8 is great…I think?

Aidan turned the big 8 last week.  It was a full weekend of birthday celebrations.  Friday he brought cupcakes to school and competed in his swim meet.  Saturday was our family party.  Then Sunday was his Harry Potter Bowling Party for his friends.  It was exhausting but fun.  He loved every minute of it.

He is a great son and wonderful brother.  He is loving and caring.  He is compassionate.  In fact day of his birthday he received the award for his class for February’s school wide theme- compassion.

Eight means no more booster seat.  That’s a big change.  Eight means a little more freedom (to be negotiated).  Eight means, according to Aidan, half way to getting his license.

I’m not sure where the time went.  At Aidan’s family party baby Angela, barely two weeks old came to celebrate.  I remember Aidan that small.  Where did eight years go?  Lots of laughter, lots of adventures, lots of fun, lots of moments of disbelief over the remarkable young man growing up before our eyes.

We are so lucky to have him in our lives.  I just wish some days, time could slow down.
