2015 Halloween…Wally joined us!

Irish Eyes Photography 2015 Halloween-298

Halloween, as established, is a high holy day in the O’Brien House. Castle Island, school party, Broadway Trick or Treating and Halloween itself were all part of this year’s festivities. And one more special guest, Wally the Green Monster.  This year’s costumes…. Burger King and Wendy!

A note about the school Halloween Party first- this is the first year Bren decided to wear his actual Halloween costume to the party. That marks three years he has worn a dress to the school party (Merida, Elphaba and Wendy). With no issue at all.  Just Brendan being Brendan. Grateful to a school and community that allows this to be a non-issue.

IMG_1079I saw a tweet from the Red Sox about Halloween costumes that were Red Sox inspired.  I happened to be putting together a slide show of all the kids costumes- including Bren’s first Halloween as Wally, a couple of days after the 2007 World Series. So I entered it and then saw it was part of a contest.

A contest that we won.  Our prize- Wally the Green Monster would be Trick or Treating with us!!!

Seattle

Our friend James who went to college with Chris, moved to Seattle a few years ago to work for Amazon. Not too long moving there he met Katie Jo. They decided to get married and invited us to Seattle to celebrate their wedding.

IMG_9758We arrived on Thursday and after naps and lunch (or whatever meal it was), we went to Wicked! Brendan was so excited (and how cool that the national tour was in Seattle when were were!).

On Friday we went to the Museum of History and Innovation. The kids loved it! We also walked around and saw Pike’s Place.IMG_9805

Then on Saturday we went to the Space Needle and the awesome playground next to the Space Needle. We found out our friend (and Bren’s dance teacher), Rene was in Seattle and got to see her at lunch! Katie Jo’s family hosted a dinner and then we saw a parade!

The wedding was on Sunday and was very nice. The kids enjoyed themselves and it was a great time! They got to see the movie Minions before we left.

It was an awesome long weekend and such a fun time celebrating with friends!

Boston to Bermuda, Party of 19

IMG_2926Last year the kids loved our family vacation to London. More than once they mentioned how they wished that the next vacation we could invite more of our family and friends. So this year we let everyone know what our plan was- to take a cruise to Bermuda. Our group ended up including 19 friends and family.

The ship was amazing- we had a “penthouse” with lots of space for all of us (and a balcony so that Bren could sing). There were lots of activities and delicious food too.

The highlight was Bermuda. We loved the pink sand and clear water. We also loved out tour of the Crystal Caves.

IMG_9481It was a fun and relaxing vacation – different from the adventure of last summer. But what made it the most fun was enjoying it with friends and family.
