We have a teenager.

How have thirteen years passed?

Aidan is becoming a confident, compassionate and very funny young man. He is independent and knows what he likes. He loves computer games, Nerf guns, trivia and hanging out with his friends. But he realizes the importance of family and often visits his grandparents and hangs out with us without much push back. He is sarcastic and has a wicked sense of humor. He’s genuinely one of my favorite people to hang out with.

And now he is a teenager. (Due to the storm knocking out power on the South Shore, we had a small friends party at our house but the airsoft party is still to come!)

The Cat in the Hat

When the boys were five and seven years old they were Thing One and Thing Two for Halloween.

Fast forward to this month when Brendan was cast as….THING TWO in The Cat in the Hat!

He had a great time learning some new skills including working with a blacklight and synching his choreography with Thing One. They were favorites after the show for little kids to greet.

Each show is a new and fun experience and Brendan especially loves being back at the Calderwood Pavilion where he ran into former cast mates and other theater friends.

School Vacation

Vacation week was pretty chill in the O’Brien house. Aidan hung out with friends during the week and Brendan had performances. But we did have some fun family time- mostly centered around food.

We kicked off the week at our favorite breakfast place- Paramount. It’s always fun to be there and see families with little kids and realize how bug our kids are. Chris was off on Monday, and Bren has no shows, so we decided on a family activity. We took the kids to Dave and Busters. We gave them preloaded cards and texted when the appetizer, meal and dessert came. It was the best. They had fun and Chris and I could relax while they played. Aidan’s prize was a game cube (checkers, chess, card games, dice). Bren won a unicorn pillow and a few fun cups. Another day the boys and I went to another local brunch place and had Fruity Pebble Pancakes (Aidan wasn’t a big fan, but I was!).

Vacations come when you need them most- and other than a project Bren had to work on (Black History Month– this year’s subject RuPaul), the kids could relax a lot.
