With the exception of the year is rained so badly there was no way we could stand outside- the boys haven’t missed a St. Patrick’s Day parade. Â Until this year.
They think this year it was just too cold, and it was. Â But there were other reasons. Â It has changed too much and taken a turn that just doesn’t feel like the family event I grew up with. Â There is the politics- who can and cannot march, who is “right” and who is “wrong.” Â There is also a younger population who come- and with them lots of drinking (and not enough clothing). Â It’s just not the same. Â It’s just not what I want a nine and six year old to see.
The boys dressed in their sweaters for Church and then we came home and had a fun day watching movies and “chillaxin.” Â It was a fun day. Â We will see what we decide next year.
