End of the year

We love that the kids participate in activities at 4th Church. The one downside is the week each session when everything comes to an end!

Brendan’s show was Cabaret: An evening in Black and White (with pink hair from the Pride Parade)

IMG_9172Aidan had the piano concert

IMG_9185Brendan went to the recording studio again (and Aidan got to help the tech guy)

IMG_9193Brendan also performed at the dance party and Aidan’s movie class premiered the movie.

And swim team had their end of the year party!!  We are officially ready for summer!!!

For the third year, my school marched in the Boston Pride Parade. The first year Brendan and I went for part of the parade. Brendan loved seeing all the costumes. Last year we had a wedding. This year we asked the kids if they wanted to participate. Aidan had the opportunity to serve a wedding (make money), so it was just the three of us.

The night before Brendan and I went to two Party City stores to find the perfect “costume.” It was going to be hot. Here is what he chose:

Within a few minutes Brendan announced he wanted to do cartwheels.  So he did. For the whole parade route. Much to the pleasure and applause of those watching. He even made Boston Pride’s Instargram cartwheeling. Such a fun time!

Camping at Castle Island

IMG_9009Anyone who knows me, knows camping and the great outdoors is not something I would sign up for enthusiastically. However, when Erin told me about the Capital Campout at Castle Island- the first time anyone would be camping at the fort- it was hard to say no. And we all had a great time!

IMG_9049We arrived on Friday and the tents were set up. All the equipment was ready for us. We made a family flag, we played “old fashioned” games, heard stories from the Tea Party actors and we got to know the other families- other 4th graders. Governor Baker came to kick off outdoors month and told the kids stories and make s’mores. Brendan shared that I didn’t vote for him. (of course)

We toured the fort as the sunset, listened to the story teller and the kids loved playing flashlight tag and manhunt win the dark.

IMG_9072On Saturday we woke up to a downpour! The rain stopped and the kids participated in fishing, yoga, learning to read a compass and more fun games.

It was fun to spend time with the kids and their friends doing something new. They want to try it again! (But Sully’s probably won’t be an option)
