We are big Red Sox fans in this house. And as with everything is Aidan likes something he needs to find out about it as much as possible. Kathy told him a while ago (like over two years ago) that at Red Sox games they sing Sweet Caroline. So Aidan learned the song.
Being a good brother he taught Brendan the “bum bum bum” part. Its cute and its a staple around here. So I decided one breakfast in November to get a video of it. We don’t have a video camera I just used my regular Cannon.
I posted the video on my Facebook page. Lots of friends thought it was funny. Friends had them perform while we were places too. It was suggested to send it to American’s Funniest Videos, but it wasn’t until we were watching the show one night and Aidan suggested it that I uploaded it. That was in January.
The first week in February I got a call that they loved the video and might want to use it. I signed off on the paperwork and thought that would be it. Until the next week when the producers called and said they would be using our video, it would be a finalist and we were being flown out to California for the taping!
Two weeks later (!) we were in sunny LA! I cannot say enough how AWESOME everyone and everything about the experience was! From direct flights (first time for the boys!) to the hotel service to the AFV staff- we could not have asked for a better time! We had a chance to go to Disneyland and see the beach while there too!
It was hard to keep the results a secret for three weeks! On March 15th the show aired. We came in second place!
