It’s Summer!

Aidan’s last day of school was literally the last Friday of June.  He had the weekend to enjoy and then Monday came- the first day of sailing.

For Brendan, the last week of June was the first week of camp- drama camp!

We have lots of fun planned- and you never know what unexpected fun will happen too!

June, the month of endings

From mid-May until the last Friday in June it has been a series of endings.  All of them have been bittersweet.  I made a list of all the things I have wanted to write about almost all come back to the same point- something is ending and something new will be beginning.  And it is another sign that my little boys are growing up.

So I will go through my list and reflect on each of the topics I have wanted to remember to share.  And I am sure as I do, the tears will form as I come to realize they are growing up.

The end of an era- swimming lessons

Aidan started swimming lessons in water babies at six months old.  We could only find one place that would start classes then and he seemed to love it.  We loved the teacher.  When she switched to the YMCA in Dorchester, we followed.  Almost eight years later, she is a great family friend.  She even attended Bren’s drama performance!

But it is the end of an era.  With the move to first grade coming and schedules and lessons at the Condon available, the time is right to finish up on Saturday mornings.  So bittersweet.  We have loved seeing Ms. Siobhan every week.  And all the families we have come to know too.  We love that the kids have had a chance to learn about swimming but also made friends with lots of kids who don’t necessarily look like them.  Aidan finished up at the Y almost two years ago and sees some swimming lesson friends- at swim meets!  Our time with Saturday morning swimming lessons may be over but they will always hold a special place in our hearts right along with the friendships we have made.
