Back to school!!!!!!!!!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Although I am sad to see the summer over (separate post<\/a>), I am so happy we are back to routines!\u00c2\u00a0 Both kids started school on the same day and it was a great day!<\/p>\n

Aidan<\/strong><\/span>– 2nd grade. Seriously.\u00c2\u00a0 Where does time go?\u00c2\u00a0 After an awesome 1st grade year, I was hoping there wouldn’t be a huge let down on the first day.\u00c2\u00a0 Not possible.\u00c2\u00a0 He’s just too excited about school and learning.\u00c2\u00a0 I found out last night when I looked in his backpack that he brought his Abe Lincoln book and his president book.\u00c2\u00a0 We got to school early.\u00c2\u00a0 Much less chaos since it was not down pouring like last year!\u00c2\u00a0 We walked through the school to the school yard and several people welcomed Aidan back to school by name.\u00c2\u00a0 It made his day.\u00c2\u00a0 He was so happy to be back.\u00c2\u00a0 He dismissed us pretty quick once he saw the teacher’s list of who would be in his class.\u00c2\u00a0 His best friend is in his class again (and said friend has an older sister who loved this teacher last year!) and some of the “glasses group” has reunited.\u00c2\u00a0 This was something his teacher suggested since they work so well together.\u00c2\u00a0 Yay!\u00c2\u00a0 He came home excited about swimming on Tuesdays (how cool to have a pool in your school!) and having computer and art.<\/p>\n

BUT…one thing was “a bummer”- no math specialist.\u00c2\u00a0 I knew of this last spring, but didn’t have the heart to tell him. And of course he was the kid to ask.\u00c2\u00a0 I think he will be fine.<\/p>\n

Brendan<\/strong><\/span>– Last year at Walnut Park.\u00c2\u00a0 Technically a kindergartener though it is not named kindergarten at Walnut Park.\u00c2\u00a0 He is a “senior.”\u00c2\u00a0 It was a one hour drop in to say hi to the teachers and drop off rest mats, slippers and “in case” clothes.\u00c2\u00a0 He wanted to stay the whole hour.\u00c2\u00a0 He was happy to be back and seeing lots of old friends.\u00c2\u00a0 He was even happier to be showing the new kids the hermit crabs.\u00c2\u00a0 He was holding them and telling them all the rules.\u00c2\u00a0 So funny to see since his last two years he would not touch them at all!\u00c2\u00a0 He has a half day today and gets into full days next week.\u00c2\u00a0 Wednesday the new kids start and he will take on his leadership role.\u00c2\u00a0 it will be cool to see since it is one of the few chances he will have to be the “bigger kid,” role model and teacher to younger kids.\u00c2\u00a0 The beauty of a multi-age classroom with the same teachers.<\/p>\n

Today he brings his lunchbox- it’s a big deal since he picked it out himself- it’s PINK!<\/p>\n

Great start to another great school year.\u00c2\u00a0 I can’t wait to see how much they grow and learn this year!<\/p>\n
